All tanner stages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 – The five puberty stages
Puberty is termed to be a biological transition to the adult reproductive function and appearance. This tends to take place through several defined steps. The puberty stage is measured by physicians using a standard known as Tanner Stages. All tanner stages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 have different importance on its own. There are specific physical and hormonal characteristic changes noticed in every stage, which ranges from period before the occurring of puberty to that of biological adulthood.
All tanner stages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5: Getting to know the different stages
Stage 1: The child in this stage is pre-pubertal, where reproductive hormones are low and no development of signs of secondary sex characteristics is noticed like development of penis for boys and breasts for girls and pubic hair among both. Every year, the expected height growth is around 5-6 cm.
Stage 2: It is regarded to be actual puberty’s initial stage. Here, hormonal axis matures enough to display visible puberty signs. There is development of breast buds in girls, while the scrotum in boys, the sac holding the testes as well as the latter grow. Scrotum appears less smooth and red. Increased growth rate in girls is noticed per year of about 7-8 cm, while pre-pubertal rate per year of about 5-6 cm is seen in boys. Light, straight and sparse pubic hairs appear in both girls and boys.
Stage 3: There is continued development of girls’ breasts, however, areola still is flushed with breast. The penis in boys begins to develop longer, while testes keep growing. Stage 4: It is pubertal changes’ last stage. The breast areola in girls, develops above breast into a distinct mound. The penises of boys grow thicker, while scrotum and testes are much bigger. The scrotum’ s skin gets darker. Boys’ height grows around 10 cm annually, while growth starts to slow in girls to around 7 cm annually. Public hair appears like that of adult’s, however, within limited area.
Stage 5: The puberty at this particular stage is completed. The child here has got transformed into a biological adult. Penises and breasts appear fully mature along with public hair. Maximum height is reached by boys by the age of 17, with girls stopping growing taller by 16.
